WELCOME PILOTS TO: ATTACK ON BOULDER

If you do not have this mod installed - you WILL see an Su-27. Highly Recommend all players install this JSGME compatible mod.

SITREP:
Russian Forces have performed a 'red dawn' maneuver and has thrown a massive amount of men and equipment into the Hoover Dam and Boulder City, taking over all power generation for the greater Las Vegas area.

**THIS IS A COOP MISSION - THERE ARE AI UNITS ** BOTH AIR AND GROUND ** THEY ARE ALL TRYING TO KILL YOU. PLAN ACCORDINGLY! **

RED TASKING
Red players may assist RED A.I. with Combat Air Patrols.

CHECK YOUR F10 COMMS MENU - There are several nasty surprises you can give the blue team. They are one time use only. Use them wisely.

Aircraft start in the air fully fueled and loaded, inbound to target area. Clear the skies of enemy aircraft so that your ground forces can hold the area.

**AVOID NELLIS AFB** HEAVILY DEFENDED WITH AA

**GROUND COMMANDERS**
Move your forces onto McCarran and capture the base. If captured, and held for at least 30 mins, additional ground forces will Leave from McCarran and attack Nellis.

** PRIMARY MISSION IS TO KILL GROUND ATTACK AIRCRAFT ** ENGAGING WITH THE U.S. FIGHTERS IS A SECONDARY CONCERN **

BLUE TASKING
Our task is to clear Boulder City and the Hoover Dam areas, and keep them clear for the duration of the mission. This is a big task. Not only have they gained a foothold, but they are sending in reinforcements from the south. We must clear the area, and hold back the incoming forces.

Watch for enemy fighters! They could show up randomly and without warning. Recommend CAP at all times. Never leave home without your winders on. (Russ)

**Mix of ground and AA threats. WATCH OUT FOR MANPADS.

**We have ZERO ground forces!

**Helo's must supply manpower and equipment to the field via CTLD.

**There are 3 FARPS located near boulder and the Dam. Use these to repair and resupply. These are not safe zones! Be on your guard! Secure each of these areas by building AAA.

**Boulder City is completely overrun with Russian Infantry. Send in the Huey's to clear out the towns. Clear the road from Boulder to the Dam and keep it clear.

**Using the MOD linked below you can use the C-130 to deliver logistics and light bombs at night to the AO. Just fly over boulder and the damn in the C-130, and light bombs will be delivered for night time operations. Landing at other airfields will capture them. May also be used to deliver FOB and Ground Vehicles.

Landing the C-130 at:
+ Groom Lake = Deploys Patriot
+++ C-17 Escort Missions become available.
+++++C-17 Will deploy via the F10 menu from Groom to Nellis - Adding Blue Ground Units.

+ Creech = Deploys Patriot

+ McCarran = Deploys Hawk Systems
+++ CH47 Escort Missions become available
+++++ CH47's will deploy via F10 menu from McCarran to the South Side of Boulder City. They will land and deploy a small group of U.S. Armor.

Had fun with this map tonight. The Mexican army shot me down three times in my Mustang. I got a number od BMP's with my 5" HVAR's and .50 Cal's.

Also, had a issue with CTLD earlier. I spawned a sling load and damaged it on liftoff. After depositing it over by the racetrack to avoid issues at the blue smoke, I came back and spawned another sling load and as soon as I hooked up it caused a CTD. This is the third time this has happened I can remember so It might be a CTLD bug. I think the sling loads might be causing the random damage to the Mi-8's as well but I can't say for certain right now.

I'm betting that is a game bug.

The ctld script is responsible for creating the crate (to be fair not even that is true. It only sets conditions for the creation, the code that creates the crates are ED's code.)

And the code that makes and hooks the crate is also the game, not the script. I. E. The F6 menu is not CTLD.
I'm also not seeing any of that behavior on the huey. Just the mi8

I'm thinking the MI bugged...

We have seen the MI 8 explode on touching the FARP on multiple occasions.

Should probably try to capture some of it and report.

It's so awful that I look at those screenshots and automatically think "who made a Fallout: New Vegas map for DCS?"

Nice Pyro... looks like you have all the records for that type.... Top Speed, Time to Climb, Maximum altitude... maximum altitude without a pressure suit. Nice re-entry too. Was Jebediah Kerman flying?

OP Updated

+ Added 3 x C-130 for use with CTLD.
As with all CTLD enabled planes, you will need to be near the building with the blue smoke @ nellis.

+ If a C-130 Lands at Creech and Stops - A Patriot Battery will come online there.
+ If a C-130 Lands at Groom and Stops - A Patriot Battery will come online there.
+ If a C-130 Lands at McCarran and Deploys Troops or Ground Vehicles - Hawk System will come online there.

+ If a C-130 Flies over Boulder or the DAM ** AFTER DARK ** It will spawn light bombs in the area for night time operations. Can only spawn light bombs every few mins.

Enjoy! and report any bugs.

Now that we've run in to this performance drop issue, I'm thinking it might be a good idea to scale back on some of the stuff that's been added. The mission runs perfectly fine for a long time, but at some point something changes and it becomes unplayable, as though some kind of script was triggered and it just crossed the threshold where DCS seems to throw up its hands and say "Aw, eff it." As far as I know there wasn't all that much added in terms of units since the last iteration, so I really have to think the problem is buried somewhere in all of the added scripting.

no new scripting has been added really. More ME triggers sure, but no new scripts. I'm thinking it's the added SAM's i've put around Nellis to stop the faggotry that goes on with the RED not letting the BLUE leave the ground.

As of this morning, the version running now, I've also removed a bunch of units, or changed the type. For example all of the troops in boulder were 20 man groups. I've reduced those to 10 man groups... my thought there was that there is less AI looking around for stuff to shoot at. I don't know if a group or a member of the group looks around. Since they can point in diff directions and shoot at diff targets, I suspect each unit gets it's own slice of CPU time to look around. So I've cut the number of infantry units in half - or changed the group as a whole to some other ground unit the helo's can still deal with but reduced from 20 to something much smaller.

I'm thinking of pulling the MiG21 out altogether. I haven't see anyone use it. Why load all those assets for a plane no one is flying?

The only other thing that has been added is the two AWACS. The dcs logs sure picks up activity when these are active and looking at other units.

Ah, I figured with the C-130 thing, the Patriot site and all that it required a bunch more scripting.

Did you notice anything in particular that corresponded with the start of the lag? To me it just seemed time-based. You can take an aircraft and fly directly over all of those units in Boulder at the start of the game when they're all there and it doesn't nose-dive the performance like it was doing.

No scripting required for those.

I made another edit and removed a few more SAMS from Nellis.. and repositioned others...we will just have to police it if the SAM cover that is there is not doing an adequate job..

Also took out the red AWACS but left blue.

Lets see how this runs..

If it's still a problem, I will remove the 130's - though I don't see how that could cause a problem.

As the mission progresses, the helo's and CTLD are adding more units to the map. That is another thing I changed recently, the number of crates it takes to build an FOB. So now we have more of them then we did before.. not sure if that matters but it was something changed recently.

If you want to really police it then just put a large trigger zone around the base and script any red that enters the zone to blow up.
