Official 99th: Attack on Boulder #2438

The trouble area is not actually directly over Nellis but rather, behind Sunrise mountain which allows the red aircraft to get close to Nellis and wait for aircraft to take off and then shoot them down as they takeoff. Tossing some manpads, Avengers or Chaparral's on the opposite side of Sunrise mountain will solve this problem.

Sent Tracer a message on Steam about it, but the mission just did it again, actually froze DCS entirely on the server this time. Seemed to correspond with the Patriot at Nellis starting to engage an AI Su-27.

Also it seems like CTLD is broken again.

I've removed all the SAMS at Nellis as a test. Seems to have run real smooth all night. Neither my client or the server crashed after that change...

+ADDED ESCORT MISSIONs (currently on the server)
+When BLUE takes GROOM lake a new ESCORT mission becomes available. You will be notified to check your F10 comms menu. Once enabled the C17 will spawn at Groom and Fly to Nellis. Once it arrives, new ground units will be made available to the ground commanders.

There are FIVE C17 escort missions available - they will become available XXX of seconds after the last one. I'm still tweaking this number. Currently set at 600 seconds. i.e. Once the first once starts, xxx seconds later you can launch the next one.

Red Team is notified of this activity. Protect the transports!

+KILL TRIGGERS (in my next upload)
If red player gets to close to Nellis, they will be notified to turn around, if they continue, they will be exploded. Tweaking the size of the trigger zones will change how fast they get killed after the warning.

Now that the MiG-21s are removed, I find myself wanting to fly it... No rush, but on the next iteration you think we can throw it back in on Blue?

Last night I got to play without stutters or any crashes! Whatever you changed with the SAM's really made a difference for my play experience. I was able to assist in setting up a FOB and deploying a kickass hawk site! Thanks for the good times!!

OP Updated:
When taking the following airfields (either by C-130 or Helo's) the following new features are available.

+ Groom Lake = Deploys Patriot
+++ C-17 Escort Missions become available.
+++++C-17 Will deploy via the F10 menu from Groom to Nellis - Adding Blue Ground Units. Protect these transports. FIVE of these are available at approx 600 sec intervals.

+ Creech = Deploys Patriot

+ McCarran = Deploys Hawk Systems
+++ CH47 Escort Missions become available
+++++ CH47's will deploy via F10 menu from McCarran to the South Side of Boulder City. They will land and deploy a small group of U.S. Armor. It's a four ship formation. At least 1 of them has to make it to the LZ. THREE of these are available at approx 600 sec intervals.

+ RED side now has 2 deploy-able bombers with fighter escorts. They will head towards nellis and bomb the runway.

+ RED Side now has 4 deploy-able Helo Attack Squadrons. Available at approx 600 sec intervals.

So as part of a test last night.. I had taken one of the triggers that spawns a bunch of groups.. and broke it up into 5 seperate triggers, seperated by 5 seconds each.

1. Lets everyone know tank grp is on the move toward mccarran
wait 5 seconds
2. Spawn Grp 1
wait 5 seconds
3. Spawn Grp 2
wait 5 seconds
4. Spawn Grp 3
wait 5 seconds
5. Spawn Grp 4

The thing is.. last night.. when that trigger went off.. it was on the first trigger that pyro's voice went up 3 octaves and he complained about lag ;) .

Nothing gets spawned on that first trigger... no new units are added. Only the message to the players, the removal of the radio command menu item and - the sound file that plays - The beeps and clicks.wav file is played on that first trigger, and on every other trigger that 'adds' something to the mission.

Last night I went through the mission removing that sound trigger action.

Tonight, pay attention to when units are added via the RED Team's F10 Comms menu.

Let me know if this makes any difference.

lol.

For the record those lag spikes coincided with particularly crucial moments in a close range shootout while heavily outnumbered by AI and player flankers and fulcrums and screwed up no less than 3 kill shots on 2 different bandits. It is my sincere hope that removing the sound will result in no one being subjected to the horror of such soul-crushing lag spikes as I was yesterday ever again.

Ya I activated 3 of those spawns last night in a span of no more than 20 seconds so that probably had something to do with those lag spikes. That Iron dude also had a ping of 700.

+Updated mist, ctld.
+Added a few more easter eggs for the red team to dish out on blue.
+Changed the route of the C-17's - hopefully they land now
+Added interceptors when the C-17's spawn.. you will need to protect these now. (thank Gman) ;)
+Added "Alert Fighter"

- Removed KILL ZONE around Nellis - Real players will be able to camp nellis once again. Use the Alert Fighter if you can't get off the ground. Build SAMS, etc.

Boulder seems to be crashing a few minutes after launching it. Restarted the mission three times and rebooted the server once. Crashed every time.

Looked at this. Seems to be starting. Haven't changed anything. Must have been a fluke. I have noticed over the past few days it is taking longer to start the missions and have seen dcs hang for long periods of time during the startup.

Had the same problem today. I think it might be related to the crate object the helicopters use in that mission. It's the only thing I see different from the other missions.
