DCS: F-14 News #6581

Leatherneck Sims developer confirmed F-14 will be released in 2017, "no exceptions". As well confirming the carrier in 2017, although maybe not at the same time.

Take it for what it is worth....I also read/saw that Maverick from 104th had a chance to fly the F-14 pre-alpha. So getting closer.

LN has rapidly taken my favourite 3rd party developer slot for DCS. The Viggen is phenomenal, the mig is phenomenal. I can only imagine the tomcat will be the same if not better

I'm loving the HUD refresh rate, little details that makes this so much excite.

...unrelated but still related; was watching Top Gun last night with the fam. Show of hands, who else was? Anyway - I've seen this film more than a few times, easily in the hundreds by now. And I saw a nice little easter egg I've never ever seen before. Below is the clip - pause at 0:30 after the scene where the Navy guy litters in the ocean. 13 year old me is wholly disappointed.

It has an autothrottle too? Am I going to have to do any work at all to get back on the deck safely? lol, every single thing I've ever watched about life in naval aviation is roughly 80% talking up what a challenge it is to just get back and land after a mission is done, but now I'm wondering exactly how much of it they actually fly themselves..

Between Tomcat and Harrier, I am so fricken pumped for the next few months in DCS. As more on the Harrier comes out I'm thinking I might even like it as much as the Tomcat, but we have yet to see any of the A-G capability we'll have in the F-14.

In all reality, most modern naval fighters are able to land themselves when all the systems are working. However all the practice is for when the systems don't work, battle damage/ sys malfunction.
