Seems like this is prime for some slippage but I'll just leave this right here...

interesting, would be a nice addition to the fray, fun to fly too. However would have to limit other aircraft greatly for it to be effective, to my knowledge the harrier was not the quickest or the most agile fighter / bomber.

It's not an F/A-18 or F-16 by a long shot. Think of it as a smaller, faster, more lightly armed A-10 that can operate from almost anywhere.

Man I have to agree, somewhat off topic here but I'm reading the D2M thread for the mirage which I guess was only really for use on the D model. So many people complaining about having an IR missile detector because it's not realistic. I totally see what sweeper is complaining about, hell they've even made 2 pylon models to accompany these people. It's good to see that Razbam works to please everyone and include what they can. With how the mirage went, I can only imagine the Harrier will be incredible!

Yup - The ED forum community always has its fair share of loud whiny jerks. This is basically why we don't have an F-35A or anything super-modern..."BUT YOU CANT MAKE IT REALISTIC (like my A-10...*) !!!1!!111!!!" - ED forums, 2003-2016.

These are those "(string of expletives) switch clickers" I sometimes b*tch about - They're the types that want the jet perfect, but don't know how to fly it for crap anyways.

They're the ones who will fly a 3 bag F-15E someday thinking it's real as it gets. Maybe RAZBAM'll give us an MWS on that thing as well, just for the lolz...

Fully agree with Pyro, as time goes on RAZBAM is getting awesome-er. That Harrier's gonna be great - Actually, *those Harriers* are gonna be great...They're giving us a few over time!

I own their harrier for FSX. The aircraft is excellent. Hovering doesn't work the best of course. I have to micro manage the fuel settings and then be in a 70 knot headwind in order to only creep along the ground. But the aircraft is SERIOUSLY fun to fly.

AV-8B(NA) never had HARM. It, like the AGM-86 Harpoon, was touted as a capability by McDD but was never actually tested.

It is primarily a CAS jet and its primary weapon, the weapon it was designed to use, is the Mk-82 bomb. It should include the AIM-9L/M Sidewinder, AGM-65E Laser Maverick, Mk-20 Rockeye, Mk-83 Iron bombs, 70mm and 5" Rockets, 300 gallon drop tanks, 25mm GAU-12A/A gun pods as well as a ALQ-126C Jammer pod. If they do a later version of it will have the Litening Targeting pod of the in game A-10C, GBU-12 Paveway LGB's, JDAM's and hopefully APKWS. It can also employ the Mk-77 but that weapons effects are not modeled in DCS...a considerable oversight if you ask me.

Harrier is going to be a blast to fly.

Thanks, Vampyre.

It was confusing me, because as far as I knew the Night Attack version of the AV-8 was the AV-8D, but they are calling it the AV-8B NA. The "D", I think, does have HARM provision. All mixed up by that, is this some interrim version deployed while the D was brought up to speed?

I was always a bit of a Harrier fan before, since seeing them as a kid at Farnborough (British ones) sometime in the early 1970s, then rooting for them at school against Argentinian class mates, in Ecuador, during the Falklands War (had several fisty-cuffs, what a brat I was, lol!). But, it was a long while ago, now, and apart from what I researched about American Harriers because of Domark's AV-8 sim, I never did get their variants off pat.

Need to look all this up. Any suggestions for accurate information? Apart, of course, from yourself, lol! Don't want to bug you too much!

Thanks again.

There is no AV-8D. There are four main variants of the AV-8B Harrier II. The first is the day attack AV-8B. The second is the one we are getting from RAZBAM, the Night Attack AV-8B(NA). The third is the AV-8B+ which is the version with the APG-65 radar which RAZBAM hope to do when ED gets their ground radar coding sorted out. The fourth is the TAV-8B two seat trainer. Of the original harriers the Marines operated the AV-8A, AV-8C and TAV-8A. The Italians operated only the AV-8B+ Harrier II's and TAV-8B's.

The Spanish used the original AV-8S Matador and the EAV-8B, EAV-8B+ and TAV-8B.

Then there are the British Harrier GR5, GR7, GR7A, GR9, GR9A, T10 and T12. They also operated the original Harrier GR1, T2, T2A, GR3, T4, T4A, T4N, T8 and the Sea Harrier FRS1 and FA2

India operated the Sea Harrier FRS51 and Harrier T60. Thailand operated secondhand AV-8S Matador's when Spain upgraded to the second generation Harriers

Thanks for that. It is the concise, potted variant definition I was looking for.

We don't seem to have the forum bucks anymore, which I was going to donate in lieu of a real beer. :D

ROFL! :D

Sure thing, how do I get it to him?

Ps. There must be a "get beer to a buddy" internet service. Surely. If not, sounds like a good business...

I seem to recall them on Super Cobras in Harpoon.

Among all the other goodies. Useful :D

This is looking interesting. Very interesting...

PS. Yeah, I'm passing on the Viggen. Nice enough, but not what I'm after.
