Anybody preorder yet? I was thinking about it today, but the actual early access still won't be out until something like December 12th.

I have two keys from the kickstarter. I was hoping to get two keys for the Normandy map as well but only one will be issued for even the highest donations.

DCS: This Totally Hasn't Been Overdone Before

At least they're doing a good job with it, I guess...

I'd say so, too, but the UK part of me likes the Spit, and especially if it is done the DCS way (zany breaking updates and all!). However, with the Dora and the Bf-109K already out there, plus ED's third party developers often representing the more under-doggy or unexpected aircraft types or variants, I would have 'expected' (preferred) one of the Griffon marks instead of the widely used Mk. IX, which was really just a super-upped Mk.V, and has been done several times before. A clipped wing Mk.XII, or a Mk.XIV would have been nice. It would also have been more contemporary with the German opposition on offer.

Still, I might probably make an exception to my "no WWII modules for DCS" rule and get this one eventually.

As I understand it VEAO are supposed to be doing a bubble top Spit XIV. As for being overdone... no other sim handles flight modeling like DCS and the Spit Mk IX is one of the most popular marks. I do love the Griffon Spits though mainly because of the monstrous amount of power supplied by the Griffon engine. Rolls Royce Griffon and the Napier Sabre were two of my favorite British power plants of WWII.
