I'd like to have some large theatre bombers like the Tu-22M-3 or Tu-22K in DCS. My strategic bomber want is the B-1B. I did notice something in this video I never thought I'd see, Iranian F-14's flying escort for a Russian Tu-95MS Bear.

Yup, they are the only truly effective fighter in Iranian service... even with their depleted stocks of AIM-54's. Aside from the Mirage F-1EQ's, F-4E's and F-5E's all the rest is Russian and Chinese junk.

What's up with all the cruise missile launches? Does Daesh have a sophisticated integrated air defense system that I haven't heard about? I mean, they're flying the bombers already. Might as well cruise overhead and drop some dumb, unpowered ordnance and save a couple million dollars, right? Why use standoff weapons?

Backfires, Blinders and Blackjacks, it is what I'd like to see, too. And throwing the Kitchen sink at the enemy navy.
EDIT: Good, glad I got to that before I started a flame war, LOL! Extreme tiredness has a negative effect.

Same reason we use the Tomahawks. It enables weapons platforms to engage targets from safety and displays those capabilities to the world to possibly generate revenues from sales of the weapons to foreign buyers. The Tu-95MS and Tu-160 are only capable of launching standoff weapons. Also, the use of these weapons could possibly serve as operational testing of the weapons and the expenditure of old stocks of the weapons vice the dismantling of the weapons once they are expired is actually the cheaper way to go. Building more to replace expenditures helps keep the economy going... Might as well kill some terrorists as well.
As far as nukes are concerned, I see no real difference between them and conventional bombs. They are all tools designed to kill so I don't really see any really valid arguments against their use in game. It doesn't really matter if one person is killed or 1 million are killed by the weapons, it's all the same. It's silly semantics and emotions governing those sentiments... Similar to the AR-15 being labeled an "Assault Rifle". It's just dumb. I'm actually surprised they have not put forth a motion to ban cluster bombs from the game as well....
I also noticed an Iranian F-4 Phantom from the bomb bay of a Tu-95MS at about 1:15.

Ah, so you did read what I'd written before I scrubbed it. LOL! We're in agreement here, then. Some of my views caused a major conflagration on another site, once. Hehe!

Too cool. Just some supplementary stuff here. A while back, I think it was pyro, we were talking on TS about abandoned Soviet Union bases from the Cold War. I remember some report on ITV back when I was in England about the collapse of the Soviet war machine after the Berlin Wall came down; it had some shots taken at some base in the Ukraine where Blackjacks were running out of spares and they were cannibalizing them. Been a while now, so cannot remember too well the details, but here are some links with some eerie photos, to say the least...
Abandoned bases
**
More abandoned bases, found this one while looking for bases to include in a CMANO Fail Safe style scenario I was making.
**
Finally, forgotten Backfires.
