Pilots – Welcome to the Rioni Valley where there is a lot of Baloney going on here!
SITUATION
The Rioni Valley is controlled by Russian forces (RedFor), and they continue to utilize the valley’s location as an assembly area for continued aggression in Georgia where they must hastily eliminate BlueFor from the country.
U.S. Forces (BlueFor) are desperately defending its presence in Georgia and is tasked with eradicating RedFor from the Rioni Valley.
COMMON TASKINGS
Both sides need to utilize sling loading to feed their war machines. A triangle formed by three towns is owned by a neutral force that supports both coalitions. Neutral force supplied cargo crates, when returned to their respective coalition’s war factories, can do a number of things such as activate armor units, SAM squads, AI CAP squadrons, and AI bombers commissioned to attack high value enemy targets for your coalition. Since BlueFor and RedFor crates are in close proximity to one another, there is good potential for helicopter air-to-air combat! Both coalitions have troops in the areas to negotiate with suppliers. Your commander has provided you locations of these troops on your F10 map, but you will have to utilize the F6 communications option to locate the crates. Locations will surely test your landing or hover hooking skills!
Retrieve your coalition’s cargo and feed the beast! Exercise caution in the triangle, the mission includes default threats, and your enemy may use common CTLD functions to insert additional threats in the zone. The towns that form the triangle are:
Chiatura:
42° 17’ 28” N
043° 16’ 35” E
Sachhere:
42° 20’ 39” N
043° 24’ 32” E
Khashuri:
41° 59’ 45” N
043° 36’ 15” E
Your coalition’s war factories can be easily detectable on the F10 map, but the crates must be dropped off within the confines of the factory’s campus. War factories include tech combine, warehouse, and repair workshop structures. If you still can’t find it, just open your damn eyes and look for some abnormal smoke stacks in towns where some of your coalition is concentrated. You will see a coalition message of benefits when a crate has been successfully retrieved.
REDFOR TASKINGS
Eliminate BlueFor’s assault forces around their war factories, staging area located on the abandoned airfields in the city of Kutaisi as well as Kutaisi airport. Maintain control of Rioni Valley by retrieving cargo crates that will reinforce your coalition. Remember, BlueFor’s objective is to clear the valley of all RedFor units. If cargo is not retrieved, this could mean quick work for BlueFor.
BLUEFOR TASKINGS
Clear the Rioni Valley of all RedFor units. The more cargo retrieved from the Cargo Triangle, the better the odds of success and the shorter the campaign will last.
FUTURE MISSION DEVELOPMENT
The mission will continually evolve from its original revision. You can send mission suggestions as private messages to Hawss on the F99th website. Current plans for future revisions include:
- Flight diversion missions to reward coalitions that prevent enemies from shooting down commercial supply flights.
- Side missions requiring Huey and Mi-8 transports to use navaids to achieve additional objectives
- Added fronts in the RedFor/BlueFor confrontation so the mission is not centered solely in the Rioni Valley.
DID YOU KNOW?
The bullseyes within the mission are centered on what is called the Rioni Valley in real life. This region also includes Kutaisi and extends all the way to Poti. The Rioni River is the river that extends through the valley RedFor is tasked to retain in the mission. The river turns south, cutting through Kutaisi, then it turn westward and ends in the Black Sea through Poti.
The Rioni Valley is commonly known for its ancient Georgian antiquities that match those of the Roman Empire, and it’s also known for having some of the best wines available. Frankly, I don’t really give a shit about this, but perhaps it’s fascinating to someone.
