Looks like there will be a DCS version 1.5 before we get the full 2.0.

I do not understand why they choose to make this particular offering.
Pass.
You couldn't pay me to get this one.

I suppose the fans of this aircraft will be pleased, and that's about it. Can we count them on the fingers of both hands in the combat sim world?
I am just wondering why we are getting all these trainers when there are slots open for past and present "top-notch" helicopters, fighters and attack aircraft to be included yet. Are all the developers scared that the other third party might be making it and don't want to repeat it by mistake?
Come on, I say again; where are the F-16 / FA-18 / F-4G? Even a MiG-19, or a pure interceptor MiG-25, but give the poor trainers a rest for a while (except maybe an A-37, something interesting?)

DCS = Digital "COMBAT" simulator. i dont think the 1st and second world countries are going to be launching their Hawks and Aviojet trainers into life fire exercises against Su27's and F15's. maybe they are just too scared to screw it up if its a well known aircraft

Because they are very smart. Not all of the features to build the top notch aircraft are implemented yet. To generate revenue to continue the development of DCS, easier to model aircraft are being produced. ED reserves the rights to OK any module someone wants to develop for DCS. I assume they will eventually get to the F-16 or AH-64. Looking at the development of DCS you will see a "baby steps" process as new features are implemented. From a strictly business perspective, it makes sense to produce the niche aircraft first and to then do the modules the majority of people desire at a later date to maximize sales of all modules being produced. Will I get the L-39? Probably not but I am not opposed to the development of aircraft I do not want to fly either.
Just like you wouldn't mind them developing an A-37, there is always someone that is going to want an aircraft such as the Aero L-39. Personally, I want an OV-10 Bronco over both the A-37 and L-39. I expect we will get quite a few new modules within a year of DCS World 2.

Of course. Makes sense. Now.
That's odd, you know I had written OV-10, then deleted it (and a couple others, they being B-57 and Su-15 "Flagon") before posting, as I thought the list long enough already. We had Broncos here for a while in Ecuador, at Manta, when we were "Plan Colombia" partners before the present government finalized their participation. They always looked funny, seeing them head on on finals. LOL! I got quite endeared to seeing them.

I'm one of those who will likely buy it just because its iconic to me, and more importantly I like variety. Something different to mess wtih - another phase to go through
