Flying the Carenado EM505 Phenom 300 from somewhere (I forgot) to Norfolk. Cygon setup a nice little weather system and had me puckered up for the landing as we couldn't see anything on the approach. Fun times and Cygon is an excellent instructor.

From KJFK, NY! Very cool add on aircraft and a great test flight of it on the airways, enjoyed it a lot.

It was a first time online dual crew-member experience on a home PC simulator for me. It works well, and the host server I rigged up held out fine for the duration, I am relieved to say...

Thanks Tracer!

DCS Virginia scenery request upcoming (?). I bombed Skegness once on a Tornado sim, it was a thrilling event.

For my last reenlistment my Divo let me have fun in the F/A-18 simulator at Lemoore... I got to rocket my hangar in Lemoore before we loaded up the San Diego area and went sightseeing... Took off from Miramar and went supersonic at 200 feet off PB, OB, across Point Loma and under the Coronado bay bridge. After that we did some touch and go's and a couple of full stops and takeoffs at North Island and Miramar. We ended with some boat traps Was a lot of fun that day.

Hmm. I see. A bit of a long detour to bomb Norfolk, unless KC-10s were simulated. I feel your frustration, LOL!

I'd rather do it in this-

Just not with Mk-82AIR's... AGM-69A and B-61's... yes please!

FSX sure doesn't look bad. How are the flight models?

Feels good to me. I can tell the diff between each a/c and the way they fly.

The view system is a bit weird and takes some getting used to. I keep wanting to hit F1 to get back in my cockpit (DCS) and end up putting the throttles at IDLE (FSX). heh

The included planes are not that great looking (inside or out) nor is the included sceneary. I've spent some coin to get it up to the point where now my brand new 980Ti is struggling a bit! lol

Pretty amazing what the addons/mods can do for a game so old.

I've purchased 4 3rd party planes so far, (only flown 2 of them so far) and I can tell you there is a huge difference both in the way they feel flying and the quality of the panels, and the depth of the systems.

I have my eye on a few more addons for ground support and rain/snow replacement (the default weather textures are HORRID).

Ive seen pics of the F35. I wouldn't mind flying that one. I know Sweeper enjoys it.

Hehe, brought this to mind...

Actually, considering the rather poor (old) special effects of the outside views, the bomb run preparation sequence of this movie was one of the best I've seen.

Another quick report....

Apart from what Tracer mentioned about "out of the box" stuff, the standard scenery meshes are not great. I know Tracer got the Global X bought version from Steam (no idea how it looks, myself) but I located one other free option.

FreeMeshX

Here are a before and after screenshot of the area around SELT (Cotopaxi Intl, Latacunga, Ecuador);

The terrain resolution is, indeed, much better. The mountain in the the right background is Illinizas. It is unrecognizable with the default mesh, and highly convincing in form to reality in the FreeMeshX picture.

Not bad!

I occasionally fly FSX. Nice shots! You can certainly tell the difference in the two. I have quite a few addons for it. and enjoy it here n there. I'd rather blow shit up!

There are a bunch of freeware sites for aircraft, scenery, textures, and everything pretty much.

If you or anyone want more info PM me.
